Japanese Blood Grass 'Red Baron' is a Striking grass. Emerging with red tipped foliage in spring and intensifying through summer into fall it provdes excellent colour in all growing seasons. This cultivar 'Red Baron' has sterile seeds and the runners (rhizomes) are much slower spreading than other native Japanese Blood Grasses, especially in northern climates. To clean up its appearance it can be pruned in early spring like other grasses to 2 inches from the ground.

Care:

Very easy to grow. Keep well-watered the first year to establish a strong root system. Apply an all-pupose fertilizer in spring (after pruning or planting) when new growth appears.

If growing in pots, more watering will be required. In the heat of summer, daily deep watering is recommended.  In winter, water once a month to keep the plants from dehydrating due to frost.
